Fundamental ELA 11 (
1st Period Google Classroom
)
In this class students will improve their writing skills, reading comprehension, and fluency skills necessary for personal, academic, and professional life. This course is a year-long, eleventh grade English class focused on the study of the American experience
–
both past and present
–
by reading, viewing, and discussing a variety of genres and perspectives. The course will focus on writing a variety of persuasive and expository essays: enhancing students' writing abilities, and helping them to discover and articulate what they think and believe clearly.

In this class students will spend time developing reading, writing, study and organization skills, and behavior skills: increasing vocabulary, study skills, self-advocacy, and helpful habits to be successful in all classes. The goal is to help you to discover and to articulate what you think and believe. We will also prepare for Smarter Balanced Testing, large projects in general education classes, and tests.

Fundamental Freshman Success & World Studies (6th Period,
Google Classroom

As the special education part of the LAUNCH (Learning Academies Under Ninth grade Core Humanities) program, this one-year class partners with Fundamental English 9 and will be split in two semester courses. During first semester, Freshman Success, we will examine who we are as a Tahoma community, who we are as individuals, plans for our future, and resources to help us get there successfully. During second semester, World Studies, students will foster more of a globalized perspective in order to successfully navigate our increasingly interconnected world.
