Class Information

Fundamental ELA 11 (1st Period Google Classroom)
In this class students will improve their writing skills, reading comprehension, and fluency skills necessary for personal, academic, and professional life. This course is a year-long, eleventh grade English class focused on the study of the American experience – both past and present – by reading, viewing, and discussing a variety of genres and perspectives. The course will focus on writing a variety of persuasive and expository essays: enhancing students' writing abilities, and helping them to discover and articulate what they think and believe clearly.
More information can be found in the Class Syllabus.

Academic Skills 11 (3rd Period Google Classroom, 4th Period Classroom, 7th Period Classroom, 8th Period Classroom)
In this class students will spend time developing reading, writing, study and organization skills, and behavior skills: increasing vocabulary, study skills, self-advocacy, and helpful habits to be successful in all classes. The goal is to help you to discover and to articulate what you think and believe. We will also prepare for Smarter Balanced Testing, large projects in general education classes, and tests. This course is not a homework center. More information can be found in the Link to Class Syllabus

Fundamental Freshman Success & World Studies (6th Period, Google Classroom)
As the special education part of the LAUNCH (Learning Academies Under Ninth grade Core Humanities) program, this one-year class partners with Fundamental English 9 and will be split in two semester courses. During first semester, Freshman Success, we will examine who we are as a Tahoma community, who we are as individuals, plans for our future, and resources to help us get there successfully. More information can be found in the Link to Class Syllabus
During second semester, World Studies, students will foster more of a globalized perspective in order to successfully navigate our increasingly interconnected world. In World Studies, we study how cultural backgrounds and belief systems impacted major 20th century events and our world policies today. More information can be found in the Link to Class Syllabus (Coming Quarter 4)
