L.A.U.N.C.H. stands for
Learning Academies Under Ninth grade Core Humanities.  The purpose is to provide an intentional teacher pairing to better support and differentiate for students needs as well as provide cross-curricular connections.  This creates a strong community for students in their first year of high school.


In this half of L.A.U.N.C.H. We will be focusing on Freshman Success and World Studies and working toward answering the questions "Who am I?" "How do I impact the world" and How do recent world events impact me?"

Intro To Psychology

Welcome to Introduction to Psychology! This is a one-semester class where students will be able to discover the foundations of Psychology. Psychology is the study of behavior and mental processes. The origin of the field of psychology comes from biology, philosophy, and physiology. The fundamental questions of “Why do people behave the way that they do in certain situations?” and “How can people change their behaviors?” will be addressed during the course.

This course will provide you with a broad introduction to the field of psychology, one of the social sciences. The term covers a historical study of the development modern psychology. Several different theories of human and mental development will be discussed. The class will also cover the various aspects of human behavior – why humans/animals do what they do.
Students earn points by successfully completing activities, assignments, tests, quizzes and extended projects. The importance of a category is determined by the number of points afforded it. 
*Note: When studying psychology, there can be many sensitive subjects discussed. Students are expected to treat one another with maturity, respect and should value the right to opinion of classmates.

American Studies

We will be examining the major eras of this nation’s history and the ongoing challenges it faces up to this day. The goal of this class is to understand how the major events in our country’s history are connected to one another, and how they impact our present day lives.

Our study of American history will include the major events and individuals that have shaped it. The class will use a variety of learning strategies to explore history which will include; lecture & discussion, reading, written analysis, simulations & group project/presentations. We will continue to strive for excellence and a ‘Future Ready’ environment.
