In District Waiver Transfer Requests

Tahoma School District resident students who wish to attend a different Tahoma school other than their resident school, must complete and submit our intra-district transfer form.  (Link below.)

*The student must be enrolled with their Tahoma resident school before submitting the transfer application. 

This Intra-district transfer form link  is for the 2024-2025 school year and it will open up on February 1, 2024.  If approved, the new school becomes the child's resident school for enrollment purposes unless the parent requests a subsequent change that is also approved. Transportation is the responsibility of the parent. 

Out of District Waiver Requests

This is called an out of district choice transfer request and needs to be initiated through your resident/home school district. Most school districts use this Choice Transfer Portal link. These must be submitted every school year.

Beginning February 1st, the Tahoma School District allows for students living outside the district to request a choice transfer request to attend school in this district for the 2024-25 school year. The open enrollment is period is open from February 1st - February 29th.  The non-resident application for enrollment must be submitted and approved annually prior to student enrollment. 

Applications must be submitted with the student's resident school district. Please fill out your resident school district's choice transfer request form, which will then be submitted to our office electronically. Requests for the 2024-25 school year submitted outside the waiver window (prior to February 1st) will be automatically denied. Once a request is received, please allow up to 45 days for an electronic response. If approved, transportation is the responsibility of the parent.

Transferring Out of Tahoma School District

Any student living in the Tahoma School District boundaries may request to attend a different public school district (including those operating state-accredited online programs) if space is available in the requested district and school. Requests to transfer out of the Tahoma School District are accepted and processed throughout the year. 

Students who live within the TSD boundaries and wish to attend school in another district, may submit a request through the Choice Transfer Portal OR complete a Choice Transfer Request form. By state law, releases can only be granted for one school year at a time and must be renewed annually.
