Bear Metal Robotics Community Night: TONIGHT, from 6:30 – 8:00 pm, come see the 2023 Bear Metal Robot in action in the THS commons! Bring your family and friends to see what the robotics team has been creating this year. This event is open to the whole community to promote STEM in Maple Valley! Tahoma School District Art Invitational: This Saturday, March 25 from 4-6 pm, there will be a District Art Invitational Reception at Tahoma High School showcasing selected artwork by Tahoma Art Educators kindergarten through 12th-grade. Featured artwork will be from all grade levels and will include watercolor, ceramics, digital art, photography and much more. Light refreshments will be served.

Future Ready: THS will be hosting a job fair for students looking for part time, summer, and full-time work on Wednesday, April 19 from 2:15-3:15 in the Commons. Sophomores and juniors will be working on resumes in their ELA classes to prepare for the fair.  Parents/guardians: If you manage or own a business and would like to participate, please email [email protected] this week.

 Athletics: Tahoma Cheerleading will be having tryouts April 18-21.  Students who wish to try out for the 2023-2024 team must be cleared through Family ID, which is open beginning at 8:00 AM on Monday, March 20.  Students who register must have a valid physical on file.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Clayton in the Athletic Office.  Click HERE for FamilyID.

AP Exam Takers: Calling all AP Exam test takers! As your exam approaches, it’s important to know the procedure for taking your AP exams. All AP test takers need to attend a mandatory meeting about the exams on Tuesday, April 18th during Power Hour A (or) B.

Senior Saturday Buses:  The senior required make-up day is on Saturday May 20th from 7:30 – 11:00. This day will assist our seniors in their final preparations for their presentations on the 26thSenior students can drive, be dropped off, walk, or take a school bus. Our amazing transportation department will build bus routes based on those who need transportation. If you need bus transportation, please fill out this form by March 31st.

SBA Testing:  Smarter Balanced Assessments for Sophomores & Juniors in math, ELA and science are scheduled for April 18th, 19th (Math), April 25th and 26th (ELA) and May 26th (science/Juniors only). All 10th graders are encouraged to participate as it is the quickest way to meet the Washington State Graduation Pathway requirements. 11th and 12th graders who did not meet standard as a 10th grader should plan to re-test.  See attachment for more information. SBA Announcement 2023.docx

PTA Mariner’s Tickets: The THS PTA has discounted tickets to the Mariner game on May 6th against the Houston Astros!  Tickets are available for $15 for 300 level seats.  This is a fun and affordable event to help our PTA raise funds for our Senior Grad Night event in June!  Seats are limited, sign up HERE!

Homework Help Sessions (After School): Teachers are available to help students from 2:30-3:30 PM in English, Math, and Science.  Please review the following schedule: Tuesday - English/Math/Science; Wednesday - English/Science; Thursday – Math.

Senior Yard Signs: Senior yard signs are available through Tahoma Robotics until April 1st.  If you are interested in a sign, please contact the Bear Metal Booster Secretary at [email protected].  

Senior Grad Night Tickets: Click HERE to order on-line. Pricing is $125, get yours today before the price goes up in April! If you prefer to pay via check, students can drop off at the front office, made payable to “THS PTA Grad Night”; please provide student name and contact info (email & cell #) in memo section. As always, the location is a surprise, students get on the bus after graduation and enjoy their evening sponsored by the amazing THS PTA!! Bear Beans: Welcome to March. This month in Bear Beans our specials are: Shamrock Mocha ($3.50), and Mango Madness Italian Cream Soda ($2.50). Please stop by and try one of our Monthly Specials or the weekly Barista Special, something unique and off-menu. We will also be open during the High School & Beyond Night (3/7) and look forward to seeing you there.

Attendance:  Please note the attendance office operates by voicemail/email only due to the volume of calls. If students need to miss school because they are sick or have an appointment, please provide as much notice as possible to the attendance office by leaving a voicemail at 425-413-6209, emailing [email protected], or sending a note with your student to the attendance office. Dismissal slips then get delivered to your student in class and they meet you at your car!
