FAQs

Why should I attend conferences? Most parents simply want to connect with their student’s teachers and ask questions about learning and performance. Many parents choose to attend conferences with specific teachers if their student has a D or F grade.

Where should I park? Please remember that you can park on both the East and West sides of the building. To avoid frustration, you may want to go to the West side of the building since there are more spots available.

How can I give feedback about my experience? We would appreciate your feedback about conferences as your voice helps us make decisions for the future. Here is a link to the conference parent survey: https://forms.gle/SsNvvgYnZabKKshy6

What should I expect during conferences? For in-person conferences you will find teachers in their assigned classroom. There will be posters at each entrance indicating where teachers without their own classroom will be located. Teachers in portables will be relocated into the Commons so that you don’t have to go outside during conferences. Each teacher will have waiting chairs outside the classroom and parents will be invited in for a 5-minute conference in order. If the allotted time is not sufficient, you and the teacher can arrange for an additional meeting time. For online conferences you will have a 10-minute Teams meeting with the teacher. If additional time is needed, you and the teacher can arrange another meeting time. When can I start booking online conferences?  3:00 PM on Friday, November 3 the online conference link will go live.

What if I can’t make conferences? You are always welcome to contact teachers to set up time to talk about your student. Most staff members have planning periods each day, and all staff have 20 minutes before and after school to communicate with parents. Email is typically the most efficient way to communicate up front since teachers are with students most of the day but at times can answer email questions. The THS website is an easy way to find staff email addresses.

What if one of the teachers I wanted to talk with is not present? We will have posters at both entrances indicating which staff members will not be available for in-person conferences. This should make planning your visit more efficient.

What do I need to bring? Bring your student’s schedule. Please either take a picture of your student’s schedule on Skyward for easy access at conferences, or print a copy. We will have adults at each entrance if you need assistance.
